Just discovered cosmotourist, great place to share experiences. I did the overland track in 2002 as a honeymooning trip. 5 days with rain mostly, but was by far the most awesome walking trip ever done.

Stunning landscape, great people meeting while underway, historic huts like the old pelion hut, all types of weather... but being on your own means carrying all your food. And yes you have to be reanably fit. Though we came across some very inexperiences walkers with even poorer equipment, who somehow made their way too.

Oh dont try to dry your shoes - they will stay wet anyway. But a good raincape for your backpack is a must.

I am just very curious if the track has gotten to busy now, as many special spots in the world. Als tasmania is a great place to rewind afterwards...
