Situated in sections of the Queen’s Tower and the Chamberlain tower at Caernarfon Castle, the Royal Welch Fusiliers Museum is wonderfully done and a great side-trip for visitors to the castle. The Museum is somewhat hidden in the sense that it is actually part of the castle and not a separately located building. There is one sign that will point you in the right direction. My castle admissions ticket also served as my admission ticket for the museum, so there really is no reason why people shouldn’t visit. That said, many people in the castle that day did not seem interested and did not enter.

There is a brief intro in the first room consisting of an overview of the Royal Welch Fusiliers. You then enter and move through varies rooms and halls containing amazing displaces of historic uniforms, weapons, medals, and a description and accounting of each of the wars and/or engagements that the Fusiliers participated in from the earliest of wars to the current conflicts.
The lighting effects were very well done although it made for difficult non-flash photography! Pay attention to the Royal Goat. According to experts, the first reference to the Goat was in 1777 and each battalion had one. There are also touching stories from individuals who participated in the various conflicts. The final room brings us up to date on the Fusiliers current NATO and UN efforts. The Regiment is listed as only one of five infantry units to never have been amalgamated in over 300 years in existence.

Easily found/situated inside the main castle. Access is fairly easy going, although there uneven rock floors and multiple up and down stair cases (not too many steps). Most able-bodied folks should have no problems enjoying this portion of the castle.
