Chimbote: Chimbote - Peru National Police Station in the Amazon River

Chimbote is a small population, located some 5 hours from Iquitos, down the Amazon River and close to the Colombian border. It has a Peruvian National Police control station, which is the major reason to stop there. The Police may ask for passports or may not – but they will enter and search the fast boat anyway.
Your cell phone may work/have signal again in the proximity of Chimbote, after hours of total isolation in the Amazon River.
As the police do their job, you may see some current-floating Uhama flowers, with their nice violet color. As we approach Chimbote one can also spot some “Amazon warrior” natives with long shinning black hair bathing in the margins – but with two beautiful “Venus Mountains”, instead of one…as in the Greek myth…
