Somerton is a pleasant and picturesque south Somerset town with a small centre organised around the roofed medieval market cross. It’s here that you’ll find the cafés, restaurants and a surprisingly well-stocked delicassen offering Mediterranean delicacies as well as local fudge and cider.

The pretty parish church is reached up a bush-lined drive and has an unusual octagonal tower.

There’s a new playground on the edge of town (at the football club) for children and a soft play area (admission charged) on the town’s industrial estate.
