Plaza de las Platerias: The Santiago "steps"

Plaza de las Platerias is to Santiago what Spanish steps are to Rome. People will sit on the stairs of this square to enjoy some rest and the beautiful sunshine. The square was called Platerias as in medieval days this was the center of silver sellers. It is now a beautiful square where to sit and admire the cathedrals east facade, the fountain and the old streets. I love this square as it is an ideal place for walking and also a favorite spot for group pictures. I prefer to visit Santiago in spring as summer is usually packed with tourist and you can not enjoy the peace of this gorgeous square.
