Calle del Villar: Medieval street next to the Cathedral

Calle del villar is one of the most beautiful and oldest streets in the old town of Compostela. You will find from modern to old shops along the streets. This is also a good place if you are looking for small souvenirs and postcards. You can walk directly to Calle del Villar from Platerias Square. The street has areas with galleries to protect from the rain so common in Santiago. Originally the whole street had galleries but a new law in the 18th century forbid to built more in the new building in order to make the street wider. If you follow the street it will take you straight into the entrance to the Parque de la Rosaleda.
