Fuente de los Caballos (Horses Fountain): Horses and the Compostela star

The Fuente de los Caballos or Horses Fountain is one of the most important and famous highlights of Santiago´s historical old town. Right in the heart of Plaza de las Platerias you will find this beautiful fountain. It is known to have inspired the famous writer Federico Garcia Lorca to write one of his poems "Moonlight Dance in Santiago". The fountain has four horses pouring water from their mouths. At the center there is a female figure holding the traditonal star of Santiago de Compostela. It is located on the west side of the Cathedral towards Calle del Villar.
