The Bankes Arms is pretty much everything you could want from a country pub; a rickety bar area with a selection of excellent real ales (featuring beers from the Isle of Purbeck micro-brewery), a down-to-earth restaurant (no menus, everything is chalked up on a blackboard) with good main meals between £8 and £11 and bar snacks around £5 with a large beer garden at the front with an awning beside the pub for wet weather.

The pub is in the pretty village of Studland right on the South West coastal path and a short 5 minute walk from the superb scenery of the Old Harry rocks. It makes a great destination for a day’s walking and there’s a Pay and Display car park right beside the pub too.

The pub also offers accommodation in ten bedrooms (many with seaviews) at around £70 to £85 a night depending on season.
