Le Zinz: Unexpectedly incredible

From the outside, le Zinz looks like a grubby wine bar, with graffiti covering the doors and mismatched furniture. The staff doesn't look like the typical wine bar staff: they're more like the staff at your favorite dive bar. So it's always a pleasure and a slight surprise when they start walking you through the daily traditional French/Pan Asian fusion menu that would be just as at home in a three-star restaurant.

The focus here is on the wine, and if you don't know what you want, the staff will happily assist, and then help you make food choices that match your wine. The food itself is incredible: I tried a beetroot and blue cheese millefeuille that was inspired, and the famous crispy Thai shrimp are incredible.

Don't be expecting somewhere fancy, but do expect the same level of food and an even better level of service.
