Vian café is another one of my favorite spots in Budapest. The thing is my friend lived on Liszt Ferenc square for 4 years so it was easy to find a place to have a coffee. And Vian café was more like our local. There are squishy sofas and chairs, the space itself is enormous with huge windows that over look the Liszt Ferenc square and there is a terrace during the summer months. Most of the staff speaks English, the menu is English as well and the service, well it depends when you come in really. I remember one particular Sunday morning after a night of all around debauchery, the waiter could have not been any nicer or faster, I guess we did look a bit fragile. In the evenings you might wait a while to order and get your food. There is a good selection of delicious sandwiches, salads and coffees. For some reason I would always order some type of club sandwich with potato salad on the side, I do not have a clue what the chef puts in it, but its strangely addictive. So if you are looking for good coffee and a sandwich with some people watching thrown in as a bonus, Vian is the place to go.
Vian café is located on Liszt Ferenc ter 9 and its open from 10am until midnight on daily basis. Its really close to the Music academy and the Metro and tram station.
