I highly recommend this day activity. We wanted to visit another areas of Morocco, so the staff at our hotel in Marrakesh pointed us in the direction of a company who organised a Camel Route Drive including visit to the famous Ait Benhaddou and Ouarzazate in 1 day. The trip was a bargain 1,350 dirans ( around €150) for the two of us, including hiring a 4x4 with driver/guide , soft drinks and water, a 3 course meal at the Ait Benhaddou restaurant and petrol. The trip started really early at around 7am. They picked us up at the hotel
The route took us off the main roads into the original rock and sand Camel Route between Ouarzazate and Marrakesch. During the trip you see loads of small towns with children running behind the car and asking for sweets. Our driver forgot to tell us to get some, so I gave them some coins. The drivers said money has no real use for them as they cannot buy any sweets around there. So if you decide to go remember to get some candy. The 4x4 was really comfortable but the road can be a bit tiring after a few hours. It´s about 400km to Ouarzazate from Marrakesh so be prepared for a long trip. On the way back the views of the Atlas Mountains are wonderful. I do not remember the name of the company but you can ask at your hotel and they will refer you to them. Good value and a memorable and beautiful experience.
