As the name suggests, Cubbon Park is a relic of the British Raj in India. Having found the plateau climate most favourable, they embraced the land and sowed the seeds of various non-native plants such as the shady Gulmohar trees which are now very much a part of this city. The park is 250 acres of verdant green and natural rocks spread around the heart of the city, often called the lungs of Bangalore. Within the grounds are various attractions like the rose garden, a children’s play ground replete with toy train, the recently opened doll museum, an aquarium and various sports facilities. The central garden has an open stage for concerts where the first freedom jams began.
