Kaziranga: Beasts of Kaziranga

The safari into this sanctuary sets off early in the morning. During October and later months there tends to hang a fog during the early hours making visibility low. Quietness is imperitive and so vehicles are exchanged for a seat atop an elephant. This World Heritage Site is home to two-thirds of the world's One-horned Rhinoceroses – chances are that you’ll see more than a couple. Elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer are common as well. Though Kaziranga is also known for a fair density of tigers, you have to be really lucky to actually spot the majestic beast. But exploring the vast expanse of tall grasses and marshland, sitting astride a lumbering giant, is an experience by itself.
