Taj Mahal: Timeless romantic marble

One would think enough has been written and said about the Taj Mahal, and with good reason. Agra by itself is the exact opposite of what one would expect from a place that is home to a supposed wonder of the world. Like the rest of the city, the roads that lead to TM are crowded, noisy, dirty and thriving on tourism. Non-Indians have to pay a heavy entry fee.
Is the TM everything they say it is? It does cut a romantic figure, standing by the river, architecturally elaborate and defying time. Feeling the grooves in the walls, I could imagine what it must have looked like when still studded with precious stones. Personally, it would be perfect if I could catch it on a moonlit night with nobody else in sight.
