Broad Street: Broad Street

Broad Street is the party center in Birmingham.

And although I preferred Brindley place because it was a bit less hectic, there are plenty of pubs, clubs and sports bars to pick from on Broad street if you are determined to have your fun.

One thing that none prepares you for is the crowds that descend on the streets around 2:00am when it is closing time.
And since there are no trains it is very very difficult to get a taxi. Even if you have pre-ordered one.


A professor of ours that went out with us actually clued us in and gave us a tip. Once you get out from the club start going up the street (away from the city center) and try to hail a taxi there. Allegedly it is because taxi drivers get fed up with waiting for their charges and just take however hails them.

We were really lucky we managed to get a taxi straight away that way, but it can be horribly freezing out (and there are women walking there in strappy tops and bare legs in the middle of January).
