Venice was home to many notable men who changed the course of Human History. In Venice’s Castello district Napoleon ordered the construction of Via Garibaldi, the street where you can find John Cabot's house – or Giovanni Caboto in his original name. Cabot discovered Newfoundland for England in 1497, sailing with Portuguese navigators as João Labrador that probably was in the area before.

There is a memorial plate in the outside main wall of the building – actually painted with random barbarian graffiti. It is a pity that one cannot visit the house, or no museum or so was implemented there. Unfortunately abandon seems to be the keyword instead.

It seems that after John Cabot the house had many other occupants - so nowadays not much remains of its historic meaning. I am not sure who lives there now. In the case of one the houses of Marco Polo - it transformed into a hostel now, above some pizzaria... :-) :-(
