Taronga Zoo: The animals

The animals in Taronga Zoo are arranged by area of origin. There are Australian, African, Asian and Great Southern Ocean sections. They have gone into a great effort trying to replicate the animals’ natural habitat.

We were there on a warm sunny day and most of the animals just lying around in the sun, so my 19-month-old son did not find them very impressive. We both liked the giraffes – I had forgotten how big they actually were. We were lucky to get there at feeding time and there was a keeper giving a talk, so the animals came really close.
