Mountain High Pies: Have you tried the Aussie Pie?

Part of learning the Aussie culture is the pie. It goes hand in hand with footie and beer. Just a simple pie stuffed with different meats, or veggies and meat, or meat topped with mash – a small hand-sized pie to fill your gut. Not those frozen, processed pot pies that most relate to it. You have to have a REAL Aussie Pie.

Mountain High Pies is dedicated to the favourite meal of most all. There are minced beef, chucky beef, steak/mushroom/Guinness, lamb/rosemary/Shiraz, chicken/curry, spinach/feta, chickpea/curried veggies/coconut milk sauce and more. There are also a variety of quiches for your tastes, fruit pies, tarts and cheesecake. Each one is simply delicious. All take-away and dine pies can be served with creamy mashed potato, mashed pumpkin, mushy peas and rich gravy. All sweet pies can be served with cream/ice cream.

They also have great espresso coffee, variety of teas and other drinks to quench that thirst. Pie prices run from $3.50-$5.90 with sweet ones running $2.00-$4.40. There are kid size pies for the little ones too.

Hanging all over the walls are bright paintings from the local Tanya Loviz; women in long red dressing gowns lounging on top of pies etc. They really add a nice touch to the atmosphere. There are papers at every table telling about them.

There are outside tables and a very extensive dining room. There are even cubby holes to get a bit of privacy from the rest of the crowd.

They are open Monday – Friday from 6:00-4:00 and on Saturday and Sunday from 6:00-5:00. They accept every card but American Express and do not have licensing.

They also have a card for if you buy 9 pies you will get the 10th one free. There are discounts given for anyone in the service industry such as taxi drivers, firemen, police, military, etc.

Their pies are so delicious I get cravings for them once in awhile that is satisfied by no other pies.
