Woodford of Leura is a beautiful bed and breakfast with Paul Sorenson gardens. The information centre told me that the hosts at this place were the best in the business. They go out of their way to make sure you have the best Blue Mountains experience possible. She isn’t a bad cook either. (He was male can’t you tell).
Woodford was built around 1926 and is a classical example of the summer homes for that era. You are greeted with a silver service of afternoon tea by the log fire upon arrival. There is also a four person spa/Jacuzzi in the spa room for your pleasures.
Suites have bed, en-suite, sitting room, and TV with DVD player. They will range from $160 to $195 per night. Garden Suite has a queen bed with soft peach walls and accented with white and sage touches. The gold chandelier is very elegant and furnishings comfortable. The Cedar Suite has a king bed that could be converted to two twins if needed. It is an elegant country style decor that is very inviting.
Standard rooms have bed and en-suite only. They will range from $145-$165. The Green room as a queen bed with a very sage quilt that jumps out at you with its contrast to the light colours of the rest of the room. The Blue room an antique iron double bed accented with a mock fireplace and a royal blue quilt that is way too bright for the light colours of the room.
The guest lounge has a log fire place to relax by and share conversation of the day. There is also a library for your use and CDs to choose from. Information about Leura and the surrounds is placed in this room for your assistance. The hosts are also all to happy to answer any questions you may have.
The outside gardens are a splendid mix of split cedar with Japanese maples. There is a fish pond to relax by with many local birds that would love to take your attention.
Woodford lies about 15 minutes walk from the town centre. The hosts will arranged for transfers from the railway station if inquired about upon booking. Many of the local attractions, such as the Everglades and Leura Golf course are just minutes away. The home is more secluded than some of the others in the area. Not too close to town, but enough you don’t have to worry about transportation.
