Broomelea in Leura, NSW, Australia is a bed and breakfast with such style and grace that I didn’t want to just review the establishment, I wanted to move in. It is an enchanting decor that feels so relaxing. It is a 4.5 star accommodation with original features throughout and the breakfast room overlooks the property gardens.
It was built in 1909 with Edwardian architecture as a summer home for Hugh and Margaret Norman. Mr. Norman was one of the pioneers of pearls in Western Australia in the town of Broome, hence the name Broomelea. It was sold in 1918 when they moved to Perth. It was home to many different families and an extension built for the lounge in 1989. It was converted into a Bed and Breakfast in 1997 and bought by the current owners in 2000.
The Conservatory Room has French doors opening to the garden with a king bed or two singles. There is a private en-suite, private entry, and has all the amenities needed for your retreat. Prices start at $165 to $520 per couple depending on your length of stay. The poster/canopy bed and Victorian colours add a zip to the atmosphere.
The Garden View 1 room was originally the master bedroom. It has a full sized bathroom, queen sized four poster bed and an open log fire. There are all the amenities available that you would need. Prices range from $165 to $520 per couple depending on your length of stay. The flowing fabric with bright maroons against crème is a romantic setting for you and a loved one.
The Garden View 2 room is just as intimate. It has a queen sized bed and a large bay window, log fire place and is very spacious. It has all the amenities too. Prices run the same as Garden View 1.
The piece of resistance, the Spa Suite, it is amazing. It has a two person spa bath, open fire, queen bed and all amenities. This is the perfect room for a honeymoon, anniversary and very romantic weekend. Creme and white decor against Victorian Rose walls, flowing fabric from the poster bed and a sofa in front of the fire; this room is heaven to all the senses. Prices range from $185 to $570 per couple depending on your length of stay.
If you like a self contained unit, there is the coach house in the garden. It is ideal for families or totally private getaway. Wake at your leisure and enjoy the provisions provided for your breakfast. It has a queen bed and two single bed, private bathroom, fireplace, spa bath, kitchen and all amenities. Prices range from $165 to $520 per couple with an additional $10 to be added for each additional person. I could live here it is so comfortable.
The gardens surrounding the property are gorgeous and keep it a bit hidden from the rest of town. Broomelea is just minutes from Leura town centre and many of the bushwalks in the area. It is on the bus line and about 10 minute walk from the train station.
