There is a new Accommodation and fine dining restaurant in Blackheath, Glenella Guesthouse and Restaurant. It opened this month and will have their Grand Opening Degustation Dinner on the 23rd of August 2008.

A Degustation Dinner consists of 10 or 12 different courses to show off a chef’s talent. You would be receiving a taste of everything he has to offer on the menu in one seating. It is $125 a head and all inclusive for a 6pm to start at 6:30pm.

The menu is quite elaborate with two courses at $45, three course at $60 and side dishes of $9. The mains choices are duck, King Fish, wagyu beef or goat curd tortellini.

Glenella itself is not new to the area. It was built in 1905 as a residence and was converted over the years into a guesthouse with levels and rooms being added as it grew. It has now been fully renovated to show off the historic features of this lovely building. A comfortable atmosphere and five star A la Carte restaurant with spectacular gardens.

The Deluxe Rooms run from $120-$150 per night with a private veranda, log fire, full breakfast and all room amenities. Standard rooms run from $90-$120 per night with private ensuite, full breakfast and all room amenities. Family Rooms are two bedrooms for a bit of privacy. It runs $180-$220 per night with full breakfast and all room amenities. Rate are per couple and there is a two night minimum on the weekends.

They have some great specials to check out too. For dining and rooms, romance packages and more; there are some great deals to be had. Trying out a new hotel they are sure to be extra helpful so that the word will get out that they are open and a great stay.

There are conference and reception facilities, wedding deals, Australian crafted furniture and open log fires in the lounge with a huge 8 foot long sofa. They are very proud of this piece, they talk about it a lot.

The restaurant is open for lunch on Saturday and Sunday 11am-3pm, for dinner Wednesday and Thursday 6pm-9pm, Friday and Saturday 6pm-10pm.

It looks like a very classy joint with the shiney wood floors and great period lighting. I love this job where I get to see and talk to people about new places before they even officially open.
