Times Square: Avoid the tourist-traps around Times Square

My friend wanted to have her photo taken in front of Times Square by one of the photographers, even though our friend living in New York told her not to because it’s a real tourist-trap. The photographer’s example picture looked amazing, but my friend’s photo was nothing like it. Don’t get fooled by this. Bring your own camera, keep it in a safe place, and take your own pictures instead. Although the safety is much better today than before 9/11, keep your wallet in a safe place to avoid pickpockets. Also, skip the souvenir shops around Times Square.
