CityBike Vienna: The rent-a-bicycle system

An Austrian friend was showing me around Vienna and I couldn’t have had better company. He knew exactly where to go and what to see avoiding as much as possible the touristy ‘sight-seeing’ stuff and showing me around from a local perspective.
One of the best things we did was rent a bicycle. The system for this is really efficient – there are bicycle stands are various points in the city and you can use a card to pay and then dislodge one for yourself and ride about town and drop the bicycle back at any of the stands around town.
It is about the best, most independent way to soak in the city.
