Timber Trail: Hanging midair in the foothills

Midway along the Simla-Parwanoo highway, about 35 kms from Chandigarh, one comes across a 1.8 km Cable Car ride connecting one hill to another. The cable car is meant to run between two resorts, the Timber Trail Resort and Timber Trail Heights, but I’ve never stopped to stay there, just to hop a ride on the cable car.
It runs 3000 ft. to 5000 ft above sea level in the middle the Shivalik range of the Lower Himalayas and the ride is thrilling because in the middle of it you find yourself hanging far, far above a stream flowing in the valley and realize you’re pretty much at the mercy of fate. The coffee at the restaurant at the top is good for the nerves.
