Paderborn: Paderborn... Paderboring?

Paderborn has always been known by the name Paderboring where I live. The town is said to be just for studying, but when it comes to anything else, there is just not much to do. Most of the shopping is found in the nearest city Dortmund.

One strange thing I noticed is that there are many British people here. This is actually because right around the corner is a large barracks. Here many of the members of the British armed forces are stationed. I drank with some of them at the local Irish Pub.

The most interesting thing I saw there was probably the Museum in der Kaiserpfalz. It is a former palace, but turned lately into a museum. At the front it is possible to see the original remains of the palace, which had be excavated. The museum itself just hosts a lot of archaeology finds.

Paderborn has its own airport, though there aren’t many flights coming in and out of it. It is easy to reach Paderborn by train since there are many great connections running to and from the city. Paderborn is located also directly by the A 33 highway.
