Ionische Inseln: Lefkada, world's sailing island

Being the center of the sailing world, Lefkada offers a great number of marinas and quiet coves accommodating every year more than 1500 yachts of all types, many of which remain moored or in the careening site for maintenance throughout winter. Lefkada is the only island in the Ionian Sea linked via a floating bridge with Sterea Hellas. The first canal that separated it from the mainland was constructed by the Corinthians in the 7th century BC which can still be seen today next to the recent one opened in the early 20th century. The town of Lefkada was extensively destroyed, like many other Ionian ones, by the 1953 earthquake. Let's discover..
