Maximilianstraße: Maximilian strasse

Maximilianstrasse is the main shopping street of Augsburg. In fact, even if you plan on doing absolutely no shopping while you are in Augsburg, I think it’s pretty difficult to avoid. I recommend walking the entire street from the churches of Saints Ulrich and Afra to the town hall (city center). Actually, if you continue north from the center, the name of the street changes, but continue on the same direction and you will reach the cathedral and the Mozart house. Maximilianstrasse was originally where the wine market was held and most of the cities sights are along this street. You will also find a few fountains including one of Hercules fighting a hydra.
