Murano: Looking for a glass factory

My main goal in going to Murano was to see the glass blowing. I wasn’t even sure if this would be possible seen as I scoffed at the tours being offered from Venice.
This meant that I spent my first hour or so in Murano doing something that I love to do, simply walking around a new place.
Eventually I started to notice a few of the glass shops had signs in the windows for glass blowing tours. I finally worked up the nerve to go in and try asking in a poor version of what I thought was Italian if I could go look – it turns out the man in the shop spoke perfect English. He kindly explained to me where to go, and the best part was that it was free – even with his beyond great English I still went the wrong way.
After getting a little lost in this place I did manage to find the area with the glass blowing. To me it was incredibly interesting and I spent a couple of hours out here watching. They also had a great gallery located there which would have been worth the trip alone. I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to go in, but there was nobody there and I couldn’t help myself.
