Restaurant Gula Huset at Klostergatan 19 is a popular place in central Linköping. It’s a cozy mix of restaurant and pub with a large round bar in the middle of the restaurant. You won’t have any difficulties in finding this place. Gula Huset (The Yellow House) is located in an old yellow (what else?) house and a sign on the building says Gula Huset. Every time I have been here almost all seats were taken and the waiters were busy taking orders and heading back and forth from the kitchen.

The restaurant attracts people working in the area, shoppers, students and some tourists. Every day they serve one vegetarian alternative (for example lasagne or parmesan squash au gratin) for 69 SEK. The meals at Gula Huset is in general simple home cooking and pretty oily (I think you get French fries to each course), but nothing else than tasty. Restaurant Gula Huset doesn't offer the healthiest lunch or dinner options in the city, but surely one of the most appetizing. The vegetarian options on the a lá carte menu are skewers with béarnaise sauce and potato gratin or quorn fillet with chanterelle sauce and potato wedges.

Besides the seating inside, Restaurant Gula Huset also has a really nice out-door restaurant on their courtyard. We sat here and ate one evening in the summer; it was very cozy with good music and candles on the tables. What I like about Restaurant Gula Huset is that it’s both a restaurant and a pub, but also sort of a club because the floor near the bar often becomes an improvised dance floor in the evening.
