Dundee: Dundee Overview

Dundee is Scotland's 4th largest city - which doesn't make it very big at all. It's got a poor reputation, with many of my aquaintance describing it as a 'dump' a 'dive' or a 'good place to go and get yourself a kicking.' But I'm here to tell you - I love this town. It's reputation is unfair, and I urge everyone to go and experience it for themselves.

Yes, there is a provincial feel to Dundee - but it's hardly surprising, being entirely surrounded by rolling countryside and very far from the major UK centres. Nevertheless, it still manages to provide a fantastic art, music and drama scene with such places as the Dundee Contemporary Arts centre and the Dundee Rep Theatre providing truly excellent service.

There are two major cinemas, a bowling rink, two fervent football clubs, several well-served shopping areas, a science museum, the good ship Discovery, a leisure centre, a climbing centre - and that's just what I can think of off the top of my head. Couple this with the fact Dundee is undergoing serious rennovations and you'll see my concerns when people dismiss Dundee so lightly.

Go and see it. You'll be pleasantly surprised, I promise.
