Würzburg is one of the most beautiful cities in Germany, no question. What’s even better is that most people haven’t heard of it and don’t have any plans on it! Whether you want to look at a massive real medieval castle up on the hill or the (again, massive) baroque palace down in the city, Würzburg is almost certain to impress. It is located right at the north end of the German Tourist board’s “Romantic road”, which of course was created to get people to go to places they wouldn’t otherwise go to by making it sound better than it is…and most of the sites along the road can be skipped, however, they call Würzburg “the pearl of the Romantic Road” for a reason.
