Mainz: Carnival overview.

Carnival in Mainz is a very big holiday. People from those in baby cars to the oldest locals are actively participating in parade and the rest of carnival activities. They all dress up, paint faces and go to the main street to catch the candy from moving platforms.
I had an impression that everyone starts to drink in the morning and by the late evening the whole city is dizzy and dancing on the square in the empty Carnival fountain. If you don't like mass events and big screaming crowds, you definitely think of the other days to visit the city. All the shops are normally closed, as well as museums and other attractions.

Such a great carnaval, probably one of the best if not, The best carnaval in germany. Good atmosphere, and no problem if your are a foreigner and you don't speak a word of german.. I can say only "ich bin ein a berliner" And I manage to make friendship with this single sentence ( With the help of couple of beer of course..).
