Hordaland: Steindalsfossen

This was actually my favourite of all the waterfalls I saw in Norway, for a couple of reasons:
First of all, we didn't set out to see it, but came upon it by accident while driving from Utne to Bergen. It's situated about a mile from Norheimsund, an hour or so from Bergen, and it well worth the little detour.
Secondly, although it isn't particularly high - especially in comparison with Voringfossen - it has a path wending around the curve of the cliff, which actually takes you behind the waterfall itself. The sensation of being behind such an immense curtain of water, with all that thundering power, is quite breathtaking.
The walk up behind the waterfall is very easy - just a matter of making your way up a wide rock staircase and under the overhanging cliff - and is, quite literally, one of the spectacles of any holiday.
