Flughafen Frankfurt Hahn: Frankfurt Hahn Airport

Be careful when booking a flight through Ryan Air that you are not going to end up at the Frankfurt Hahn Airport. Ryan Air lands at the smaller airport away from Frankfurt because of the cheaper flight costs associated with it. The one thing that I don’t understand is how they can consider the Hahn airport a part of Frankfurt. The airport is nearly two hours away from Frankfurt. In order to get to Frankfurt you will have to plan at least two hours just getting to Frankfurt by shuttle bus. Luckily the shuttle bus runs until late in the night, but this creates a lot of problems when trying to make connecting flights or train connections.

When I was flying to what I thought was Frankfurt, the ride that was supposed to pick me up had to drive two hours more than they thought to me. Since gas is not cheap in Germany, I ended up having to pay for at least two hours more of gas, since I offered to pay the gas to pick me up, which in the end, ended up probably costing me more than the flight itself. My recommendation is to weigh all the costs in taking this supposed cheap flight, it may cost you more than the flight just getting to and from Hahn.
Some of the other airlines do offer possibilities directly to Frankfurt and not to Hahn. If you still want to consider flying to Hahn, keep in mind that there is a hostel in the area that will pick you up from the airport and bring you back. My friend stayed there and found it easier than travelling back and forth Frankfurt to Hahn.
