Arena Hamburg
If you love football you just have to be in love with the temples of football: the stadiums. Because Germany was having the World Cup they invested plenty of money into the infrastructure and new stadiums. There is little doubt, that these stadiums are the finest on the planet at the moment. The thing is, back in the days stadiums were used for everything from track and field to propaganda-marches and for football. But they were comfortable as a rock and the wind blew your mind before the game-play had a chance to. Nowadays the stadiums are solely built for one reason and for one reason only: football entertainment at its finest and with watch-pleasure of the highest degree, cosy and warm and with snacks and drinks as you would like them in front of your telly. The Arena is Home of Hamburgs Football-Team HSV, who is one of the founding teams of the Bundesliga and the only team that never fell down to second league, yet. This year the are struggling hard and it would be a shame for such a great stadium not to be hosting with Bayern Munich and Schalke, but then awkward towns like Meppen, Jena or Braunschweig, which you have probably never heard of. The Arena was the first one in Germany to hold the name of a sponsor, too. This was six years ago and an outcry went through Germany. Nowadays almost all Stadiums have a sponsored name, because that brings millions of Euro and the chance to compete with the rest of the European leagues. I went to the arena in Hamburg for the first time for the quarterfinal of last year’s Worldcup. I luckily had the chance to get hold on the tickets. Unluckily though, it wasn’t the game with the German team but Italy against Ukraine. It was a quality match, on the Italian side. The Ukrainians were slaughtered already in the first half and could not compete in any minute. The atmosphere was cool but not over the edge exited. This had something to do with the way how the Ukrainian spectators executed la ola-waves. Because they didn’t at all! That is not funny at all, my dear friends from the Dnepr. Italy won 3:1 and they became the world champion after beating Germany and France. And I was there...I saw them. I like! [mehr] |

Olè Olè der Fußball ruft
Für Fußballfans ist die AOL Arena ein Begriff. Dieser riesige Komplex für Sportveranstaltungen ist gigantisch. Der HSV trägt dort regelmäßig seine Bundesliga-Spiele aus und dann kommt richtig Leben in die Arena. Besonders zum Fußball ist die AOL Arena immer herrlich blau beleuchtet, eben typische HSV Farben. Der Zuschauerbereich ist überdacht, das Feld jedoch ist jedem Wetter ausgeliefert. Der Rasen ist aber beheizbar. Direkt vor der Tür ist ein großer Parkplatz. Es wird jedoch immer geraten mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln anzureisen. Eine Bushaltestelle ist fast direkt vor der Tür. Sie liegt im Stadtteil Volkspark in der Silvesterallee. [mehr] |

AOL Arena --> HSH Nordbank Arena
Die AOL Arena heißt seit der neuen Saisan HSH Nordbank Arena, da sich mit den Sponsoren natürlich auch der Name geändert hat! Hier finden bis zu 57.000 Leute Platz, wenn der Hamburger Sportverein seine Heimspiele austrägt oder große Konzerte stattfinden. Es werden Stadionführungen angeboten und ein HSV Museum gibt es auch. Ich war bilang nur zum Fußballgucken da und das war jedesmal ein Ereignis! Wenn volles Haus ist und alle lauthals jubeln, singen, etc. ist (bei mir zumindest) eine Gänsehaut garantiert!
