problems with the water?
honestly, i made a good...but not so good attempt of not drinking the water while in mexico. after all...it's extremely hard to say no to a margarita and some of the local stand. unfortunately i caught some bacteria that made me sick...and fortunately it was after i returned home. it also was not as bad as some of the experiences of heard from friends. my suggestion is to honestly try your hardest at not drinking tap water...even use bottled water to brush your teeth. But if you're planning on staying at one of the really top resorts...this really shouldn't be as much of an issue.

London*London*London
i suggest a few of the walking tours...like "Jack the Ripper" walking tour or "ghosts of the old city" tour. You can even find some that take you on a tour of the oldest pubs and urban gentry (or art) walks. It's really a great way to discovery the city, and see all these secret and hidden spots. although, the tours tend to be a little pricey...but i guess that's just london.

Big Ben
Everyone has to get the corny pick of looking at their watch with Big Bend in the background. Otherwise, I didn't find it all that impressive. Kind of along the same lines with London Bridge...I literally said "this is it?!" Another touristy area is China town...which was slightly disappointing...I guess I expected it to be larger than one street a few blocks long. In general I' m not a big fan of the major tourist attractions. I always find less touristy places more appealing. For instance, I loved the Salvador Dali museum and Madam Taussad...both were fantastic.
The worst thing about London is the dollar to pound or euro to pound for that matter...it catches up on the pocket book fast. |

Short Trip to Belfast/Dublin
i would recommend dublin. i completely disagree with vincemcc79. i thought dublin was extremely friendly...everyone i met was helpful and courteous.
personally i really liked dublin because everything is within walking distance. anywhere you would want to go is immediately there for you rather than worrying about taking buses or spending money on taxis. i also love the way the city is set up and it is ideally perfect if you only have a couple of days. when i visited dublin for the first time i spent 2 and 1/2 days there and it was the perfect amount of time to see everything i needed to as well as get a good idea of the culture. it impressed me enough that i went back for a second trip. |

Mexico Beaches
The Caribbean beaches in Mexico are fantastic. I was in Playa del Carmen in the Yucatan Peninsula for a week and the beaches were my favorite part of the vacation. The sand is white and soft, and the ocean a mesmerizing warm clear green-blue. When sitting on the beach, you can taste the salt in the air carried from the water by the wind. If you're tanning, it can get ridiculously hot however at mid-day. Other than that, I would definitely recommend any Mexican beach on the Gulf side of the country. I’ve yet to visit the Pacific side of the country, but have heard there’s great surfing.

Italy during Xmas 2007
I wasn't in Venice, but I was in Italy over the Holidays in 2006. I remember a lot of restaurants, banks, and shopping areas were closed...often. So when you travel there, take this into account, and make sure you have enough cash on hand. Don't make the mistake of going to a bank on the "wrong" day...it could be closed. Just a heads up. Have fun!
