I once heard a saying, “the Italians are good at cooking which is why you find so many
Italian Restaurants…and the Irish are good at drinking, which is why you’ll find
plenty of pubs” and this is true when it comes to finding an abundance of pubs located
throughout Dublin. You...

Grafton Street is probably one of Dublin’s most high-end shopping centers, filled with
designers and jewelers. Besides shopping, you will find plenty of trendy bars and cafes.
I thoroughly enjoyed exploring this area, but honestly didn’t purchase anything
here…too expensive....

Apparently these were once private grounds that have opened to the public. I was told
that a lot of Dubs aren’t even aware of this, tucked behind the National Concert Hall
near St. Stephen’s Square. It was quite deserted when I stopped by. You’ll see
plenty of beheaded and broken...

I found Merrion Square to be quite a pleasant park. Merrion is located by the parliament
and national gallery. Like St. Stephen’s Green Park, this is a great place to relax or
have a picnic lunch. I don’t really feel it deserves a special visit, other than for
the atmosphere. The...

St. Stephen’s Green is a beautiful park. There is plenty of greenery, full of water
fountains, and there is an abundance of seating to relax for a minute or enjoy a picnic
lunch. There’s an amphitheater next to the Yeats memorial where a band was playing one
afternoon. Apparently...

Yes, it is an interesting name, and it’s also and interesting bar. You’ll see tons of
memorablia hanging from the walls of this “sports” pub, along with large screen
tv’s, but overall it has a dark atmosphere. We visited on a weekend night, and the
place was packed. There were two...

This is a beautiful cathedral. However, I felt it was a little “commercial.” The
admission price seemed high, the gift shop was set up in an open area in the back of the
Cathedral, not to mention a sign situated out front of the Cathedral that both states this
as a landmark as well...

I think Dublin Castle is beautiful. It was originally built in the 13th century, however
only the tower is all that remains of that structure today. After a fire in 1684, Sir
William Robinson built the Upper and Lower Castle Yard, which is present today. You can
explore both the...

Before leaving for Ireland, my friend’s mother asked me to pick up a piece of china for
her that she collected while living there. I figured my chances of finding this china
were slim-to-none. However, within my first 5 blocks of window shopping on the Dublin
streets I ran across...

I’ve always been told that the Irish do not celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, at least not
the way they do in the States, and for the most part this could be true. However, I found
this statement to be false when I found myself in Dublin on St. Patty’s Day. Of
course, everyone I met was...

Temple bar is one of the oldest areas of Dublin and is renowned for being trendy. It is
situated between Dame Street and the Liffey and was named after Sir William Temple who
purchased the land. The streets are all cobblestones and are lined with pubs, cafes,
restaurants, galleries,...

Trinity College is Ireland’s most prestigious college, not to mention oldest. The
architecture and upkeep of the campus well portrays this. It is filled with history,
beauty, and obviously, great minds. The scenery is so stunning that if you are an amateur
photographer, those...

I really like this museum. Each room is big and open…large self-portraits and scenes
are hung on the walls…sparkling chandeliers dangle from ceilings. I really enjoyed the
organization of the museum…the art work leading you from room to room…telling the
stories and history of...

The ancient city of Poseidonia dates from 600 B.C. and is just wonderful preserved. I
would recommend about 2 hours looking around the site. The admission cost is fairly
inexpensive. I was with someone who was very knowledgeable about this site, so if a tour
guide is available, I...

If you really love art, the best places to see it displayed are at Italian Churches and
the Gesu Nuovo Church is a great example of this. The Baroque church has a wonderful
display of tapestries, frescos, paintings, and jewel encrusted statues. This doesn’t
even include the structure...

This museum is housed in Capodimonte Palace, built in the 18th century by Charles III, a
Bourbon King of Naples. The National Museum is really one if Italy’s finest. The
collection is great. You’ll see plenty of Greco-Roman antiquities including marble,
bronze, mosaic, fresco, and...

I would absolutely say that this museum should be on your top 5 attractions while visiting
Naples. I would suggest seeing both Pompeii and Herculaneum first however. These museums
give a great feel of the city before you explore this museum. Regardless, what’s most
impressive about...

The Black Hills are legendary in South Dakota. I don’t know anyone who has not visited
the area while in this state. Besides a plethora of mountains and forests, this area
contains 6 national parks, so expect to see a lot…and bring your camera with an excess
of film rolls. You’ll find...

Café Hollander is a relatively new restaurant in the area. The atmosphere and image is
manipulating a European Café, more specifically, the Netherlands. They offer a large
variety of higher-end beers and liquors. Particularly beers brewed in Belgium and the
Netherlands. They...

A Baldwin Baby Grand sits off to the side at this little piano bar. You can see and hear
these fantastic and relaxing performances on the weekends. Audiences have the opportunity
to challenge the musician with requests…hard pressed for the challenger to win, as the
musician can play...
