There was a bicycle shop just outside my hotel (Holiday Villa) and after I walked passed
it a few times, I decided to hire a bike. I am not a confident rider and I needed to get
some closed-toe shoes first. That was a big challenge – not many people want them in a
hot and humid place....

We had a ‘buy one, get one free’ coupon from a local newspaper, but when we got there
around 3.30 pm the gates were wide open with no one to pay the entrance fee to. Slightly
puzzled, we walked in anyway, wondering if the place was closed. We had a look at a few
farm animals and...

The Gap Park is a fantastic place for a coastal walk with its stunning ocean views on one
side and harbour/city views on the other side. The place played significant role in the
defense of Sydney, or so the signboards along the way said. I did not stop to read more,
but if you are...

You cannot legally buy alcohol in Brunei. I did not find it much of a problem; actually,
it was a bonus – the variety of non-alcoholic cocktails at the hotel bar was amazing and
I could drink as many as I wanted without getting drunk. However, if you prefer to have
alcohol on your...

The Sutera Harbour consists of two properties. I stayed at the resort-like Sutera Magellan
and there was also the Sutera Pacific, catering for business travelers. The resort is
close to the harbour, very convenient for island hopping, but you would need to take a
taxi to get to the...

Ski Rider is actually outside Jindabyne, 11 km from Perisher Blue, inside Kosciuszko
National Park. It is not quite as good as being on the slope, but it is much closer to
Perisher Blue than Jindabyne and, especially with the traffic jams in high season,
you’ll be saving precious...

The playground in Darling Harbour covers a large area and I expected that there would be
plenty for kids to do there. There was, but not as much as you would think. Most of the
space was taken by steep hill-like structures. You’d better hold on to your toddlers or
they will be rolling...

My first impression was that the café was very expensive, but so are most of the cafes in
the area. It is the only café in a little stretch of shops, so, with no competition, it
seems to get full all the time. The staff is very friendly, even when I took up a whole
table on a public...

We have stayed at Lake Jindabyne hotel several years in a row now, every time lucky to get
a room at the last moment and every time happy with our stay there. The rooms are very
large and with amazing lake views. Breakfast was very generous and, unlike some other
places in the area,...

The Sydney Fish Market is a great place to get your seafood, cooked or uncooked. We went
there for lunch and really got our money’s worth. We paid AUD 40 for two of us and a
toddler, got bit of everything, including half a lobster, and struggled to finish it all.
There is a nice...

Everyone rides a bike in Eindhoven and everywhere there were special bicycle lanes. The
landscape is pretty flat and that makes it easy to keep going. What a great way to get
around, keep fit and protect the environment! I spent a week in Eindhoven visiting a
friend and I was...

The lodge is set amongst the rainforest , very peaceful аnd a great place to reconnect
with nature. The villas were fantastic, very spacious, comfortable and in keeping with
the surrounding rainforest. My roommate set the air-conditioning to low temperature and I
was freezing, so...

Cape Kaliakra is situated 12 km from Kavarna, close to the Romanian border. It stretches
approximately 2 km into the sea and consists of white limestone, rising 60-70 m above the
sea. It is very beautiful in summer with its sun-burnt steppe fauna and breath-taking
water views (I was...

Tian Tan Budha is a very large bronze statue on Lantau Island. There are 268 steps to
reach the platform where the Budha sits and a small exhibition inside the statue. The
access to Budha is free, but there is an entrance to see the exhibition. You can also
purchase a ticket including...

If you want to help preserve the rainforest, there is an opportunity for a small fee to
plant a tree in the Daintree. Don’t worry if you have never done it before, the tree is
provided for you and the rainforest rangers will show you the exact spot to plant it and
how to do it. You...

I went on a Great Barrier Reef cruise from Cairns and we were meant to visit Michaelmas
Cay (the Bird Island) and one other location on the Outer Reef. Unfortunately, the sea was
very rough, so we only made it to Michaelmas Cay. Visitors were allowed on a small section
of the sandy...

The beaches in the Daintree were beautiful – wide, serene and completely deserted. I was
there for a conference and as a team building activity we were given a list of different
objects to take photos of, amongst which was a crocodile. Most of us took pictures of a
toy crocodile from...

Before my arrival I had read in some reports that the rooms were very small, but the room
I got was actually a decent size, much bigger than what I expected. The furniture looked
very dated, but apart from that, it was very comfortable. I stayed at the Imperial hotel
for a week and I...

I rented the bike for three days and I spent the first day exploring the surroundings. The
road was flat, there wasn’t much traffic and bike riding seemed easy. I soon got
confident and decided to ride to Kuah on the next day (40 km away). There were two routes
I could take and I...

Tea Gardens is a small resort town 2.5 hours drive from Sydney. We read in the guide book
that you can see dolphins and dingoes in the area, so we took a long walk looking for
them. There were three beaches and while they were all beautiful, there was no sign of
wildlife other than...
