The palace was quite interesting with its numerous rooms and halls with exquisite
furnishings. What I found truly amazing, though, were the gardens. The park was very large
and maintained flawlessly. I could not imagine how much effort and how many gardeners it
would take! The hedges...

For a while, I had been walking past a sign advertising breakfast from $4.90 (most of the
cafes in the area will charge approx. $8 for two eggs and toast), but the cafe was not
close to my house so I had not had a chance to try it. Yesterday, my toddler was a bit
unsettled, so I...

I was taking my toddler for a walk in Centennial Park when all of a sudden we found
ourselves in the middle of what seemed to be a dog party, with jumping barriers and steps
set up around the area. It turned out that there was a dog school taking place 9-11 am
every Sunday (except...

When I travel, I don’t like to carry lots of cash with me, so I prefer to use an ATM to
take it out as I go. If you are like me and if you are not staying downtown Kuah, keep in
mind that ATMs are not widely available in Langkawi and get your cash at the airport as
you arrive. When I...

Langkawi is one of the very few places I visited that I would like to go back to. I went
there shortly after the tsunami and it was very quiet. Locals told me that the tourism
suffered, even though the tsunami caused little damage. Langkawi had a relaxed island
feel, but it also...

I am not sure how to define the Fisherman’s bastion – a fortress, a terrace or a
system of towers. It is an architectural structure as if out of a fairy tale consisting of
towers, terraces, arches and stairways. It offers fantastic panorama of the Danube and the
city and great...

The Rila Monastery is about 2.5 hours drive out of Sofia. The road through the mountain is
very scenic, but also very winding. If you get car sick easily, keep that in mind and take
some ginger tablets beforehand. I would have enjoyed the drive so much more if I had
thought of that....

I had never been to a coral reef before and I was a bit skeptical about all the picture I
had seen: surely, the reef could not be so colourful and vibrant. The reality surpassed by
far the pictures and all my expectations. The reef was absolutely amazing with unreal
colours. There...

Out of all the resorts I saw in Fiji, Mana Island was my favourite one. The beaches were
stunning with very clear blue water. I was there for work and I had not booked the
accommodation for myself, so I did not know what to expect. With my roommate, we opened
the door and… surprise,...

I am Bulgarian and I still found the Ethnographic Museum very interesting. I would imagine
it would be fascinating for someone unfamiliar with the Bulgarian culture. The museum
tells the story of the life in the end of 19th – beginning of the 20th century – you
can see traditional...

The café is on a main road, so the outside sitting was not very nice. The interior was
ok, but it was a warm sunny day, so we took our pizzas to the park across the road
instead. My pizza would have been really good, except it had too much anchovies. Usually,
it is great to have a...

Rarotonga was a complete change from my usual environment and I loved every minute there.
The island was not inundated with tourists and had very authentic atmosphere. Life was
unhurried, mobile phones did not work. There was one main road around the island, with not
much traffic, so...

I only stayed at the Warwick for a night and it seemed to be a night full of action at the
resort. There were people in the pool and at the pool bar until very late at night. In the
other bar (Hibiscus Lounge) there was a live band playing. Once the morning came, I
could...

I stayed at the Tokatoka on my way back to Australia – our group of travel agents could
not get a same-day connection from the islands, so we needed to spend a night somewhere
close to the airport. The accommodation consisted of separate villas, quite spacious,
clean and comfortable....

I visited most of the major resorts on the Coral Coast as part of a travel agent
familiarisation trip. While the resorts were very nice, most of them seemed to be very far
from each other and from anything else. If you book a holiday there, you would be expected
to spend most of the...

This festival is on every year in August (I was there in 2007). The main event took place
in the Open Air Theatre in the Sea Garden, but I could not go to any of the concerts,
because of my baby’s early bed time. I did watch some of the free events, though. There
were 3 stages with...

The garden was very beautiful with great variety of orchids. There were hardly any
visitors and it was a fantastic change from the crowds of the big city. I spent about an
hour looking at the flowers and taking photos (which I lost to a computer breakdown).
Bring some insect...

The rooms were not overly luxurious, but adequate for the standard of the hotel. The
restaurant offered good food and friendly service. A very attractive feature of the resort
is the Orang Utan reserve. We had the opportunity to view the Orang Utans at feeding time.
Only the young...

There were two of us and a toddler. Even though the entry for our son was free and he was
not yet in the showbag age, we ended up spending around AUD 150 on entrance, food, drinks
and a couple of rides. If you have a big family and you don’t want to spend the day
stressing about every...

For those of you unfamiliar with the showbag concept, let me explain. They are put
together by a company (food, toy, magazine, chocolate, etc) and include a variety of
products at a reduced price. Note of caution there – indeed, you would be saving if you
would otherwise buy all the...
